Mrs. Mary Alice Morris age 87 of 240 Viola Avery Street departed her life on Thursday, April 5, 2018 peacefully at University Hospital, Augusta, Georgia. She was born on February 3, 1931 to the late Albert and Delia Shaw Dooley. Mary Alice was raised by her late Uncle Gravel and her late Aunt Sallie Shaw. Mary Alice was united in holy matrimony to the late John Wesley (Buddy) Morris. This union produced six children. She joined the Green Branch Baptist Church at an early age. She retired from Maxwell Elementary School after thirty years of dedicated service. She cared for her husband for many years prior to his passing in 1996. She was a strong and caring woman. She loved family gatherings and taking vacations. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking and working in her yard with her flowers.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ann Bentley and three siblings, Annie Lue McCurdy, John B Shaw & Grant West.
Her fond and precious memories will be cherished by her children; Johnnie (Darwin) Howard. James, (Annie) Morris, Clarreca (Roderick) Berry, Pearl Morris, Lois (Randy) Morgan; son-in-law, Jackie Bentley; grandchildren, Kim (Bruce) Robinson, Pattray Morris, Terry (Diana) Jones Jr, Darkina (Denoavis) Smartt, Randy Morgan Jr, Nigel Morris, Jasmine Berry, Brandy Dozier and Rickey (Keanna) Lockhart, Michael (Shiranda) Walker & a multitude of great grandchildren; her caregiver, Zhane Morris (Pookie); two sister -in-laws, Lucy Winfrey and Mattie Day both of Thomson, Georgia; one brother-in-law, Eugene (Janie) Morris of Tampa, Florida and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and sorrowing friends.
