Lola, affectionately called “Doll,” was born on October 5, 1918 to the late Robert and Mary Lester in Warren County, Georgia. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and joined the Union Springs Baptist Church. She was a devoted member of the church until her health began to fail. She was the oldest member of the church. She was a woman full of faith and believed in prayer. Who can find a virtuous woman? A woman of strength! A strength in character! A Godly woman! Lola was united in holy matrimony to the late Amos Harris, Sr. To their union, six children were born. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was a hard worker. She believed that you should help people that are in need. She would never turn anyone away who needed her assistance. She will truly be missed by many. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, Willie B. Harris, and two grandchildren. Lola leaves to cherish her fondest memories: Lola (Curtis) Jackson, Nathaniel (Linda) Harris, Amos Harris, Jr., Mary Harris, and Larry (Hazel) Harris; Jenny Latimer, a special niece she raised as her own; one daughter-in-law, Joann Harris; eleven grandchildren; one loving brother, Jimmy Lester; two special caretakers, Louise Murray and Julie Flournoy; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
