With sincere sympathy, we announce the passing of Mrs. Mattie Pearl Crawford of Thomson who entered into rest at the Kentwood Nursing Home Facility in Augusta, Georgia.
The Celebration of Life of Mrs. Mattie Pearl Crawford will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at 2 pm at the Vanderhorst C.M.E. Church, 639 Main Street Thomson. The body will lie in state beginning at 1:30 pm on Sunday until the hour of service. The interment will follow in the Society Cemetery in Mesena, Georgia. The repast will follow the burial immediately in the Stone Chapel C.M.E Church Fellowship Hall in Mesena, Georgia. The viewing will begin on Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm at the funeral home and then from 5 to 7 pm at the Stone Chapel C.M.E. Church on Saturday. The funeral procession will leave the residence of her daughter, Elease (Bennie) Hester on Sunday at 1:15 pm.
She leaves to cherish Mattie’s wonderful memories: four daughters, Lena (Gene) Jones of Hephzibah, GA, Elease (Bennie) Hester of Thomson, GA, Belinda Chubbs and Pauline Webb of Augusta, GA; five sons, Otis Jones, Jr., of West Palm Beach, FL, Willie Clarence Crawford of Thomson, GA, John Henry Crawford, Daniel Crawford and Melvin Crawford all of Augusta, GA; one son-in-law, Henry Roberts; one daughter-in-law, Betty Crawford of Thomson, GA; one brother, W.C. Smith of Holiday, FL; sisters-in-law, Louise (Tommy) Burgess of Thomson, GA and Juanita Dickerson of Ft. Myers, FL; children whom she loved as her own, Nathaniel Jones, Sr. of Thomson, GA, Ricky Jones of Warrenton, GA, Robert Jones of Warrenton, GA, Sue Ann Moton of Thomson, GA and Elizabeth Bell of Warrenton, GA; nephews, Robert Scott and Johnny Lee of Thomson, GA; one niece, Helen Crawford of Thomson, GA; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; twelve great-great-grandchildren; three devoted and special friends, Angie Hart, Kattie M. Jones and Mattie Mae of Thomson, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
